These are some of the informational pieces and photos of the 2010 Hispanic Heritage Month celebration that also included a salsa contest which took place at the Target Tempe, my then place of work. This was an event that I helped put together as part of the Target Tempe Diversity & Inclusion Council.

The informational pieces were used for a tri-fold that included history of Hispanic Heritage Month, history of salsa, and a list of local Hispanic Heritage Month events. We also coordinated with the inhouse cafe to create a specials menu for the day. There was also a video displayed via a projector with images/photos and brief info about each country that is included during Hispanic Heritage Month.

 The photos you see here are a combination of ones I took myself and ones shared by others. The informational pieces are the ones I gathered because I was in charge of putting together the tri-fold. The exception was the header. which had I done, would have been spelled correctly.

Just a quick note about video posts...

You may already know that I create both horizontal and vertical videos for my Amalgam Creative Arts videos, mostly because of posting on different social apps/platforms.

I decided to try the same for one of the recent Step Out - Walk to Fight Diabetes video for my No Tan Diario Chronicles. Though it won't be something that I'll do because I prefer traditional horizontal ones, I find it interesting that vertical videos, specially when they are shorter, seem to get more views that horizontal. 

I've also noticed that overall shorter videos, whether horizontal or vertical, seem to get more views. Now I don't create videos for the views, but because I want to share moments throughout my life via No Tan Diario Chronicles and encourage craftivism via Amalgam Creative Arts, however it'd be neat to get monetized at some point, at least on my creative channel.

First we have the reveal of the Hydrox package because I thought I had lost the original unboxing.

Because I'm currently living in Texas, I decided to also include the H-E-B Grocery Store's version of the chocolate sandwich cookie, which they call Twisters. 

A quick view of the ingredients, which came out a bit blurry on the video, show overall similar ingredients. The biggest difference appears to be that, unlike Hydrox and the H-E-B Twisters, Oreos still use high fructose corn syrup. 

Before I taste tested them, I decided to show the opening of each package of cookies. The Hydrox does not have an easy open flap, therefore, I used scissors to open them. The Oreo and H-E-B Twisters both have an easy open flap, of which the H-E-B Twisters was the easier to open of the two. 

The cookies were all similar size with the color being the biggest noticeable difference on first look. The Hydrox cookies are the darkest color, smell of very rich chocolate, and are a bit crumbly. Although, that could be attributed to them being shipped. The Oreos are fairly uniform, appear to have less filling, and had a slight chemical smell to them. The H-E-B Twisters were the more uniform with the most sweet chocolate smell.

After tasting all three, my preferred cookie is the Hydrox because it has the richest chocolate taste and is not overly sweet. The H-E-B Twisters are a close second. They are the sweetest of the three and taste of milk chocolate. The Oreos came in last because they had the least chocolate taste to them with a slight chemical aftertaste. 

After the taste test, I decided to also add a twist test to show the creme inside of each cookie. 

Overall, I would suggest to skip the Oreos and get you some Hydrox for a rich chocolate creme filled cookie that is not overly sweet or some H-E-B Twisters if you prefer a sweeter milk chocolate cookie.

Hydrox, America's Original Crème Filled Chocolate Sandwich Cookie!

For a while now, I've been wanting to try the original chocolate sandwich cookie. The predecessor to the now more famous and knockoff Oreo. After placing an order for a master pack of 6, it took about three months for them to arrive.  

This is me clumsily unboxing the contents with one hand in order to capture the video to show you the package and the pack.

For this photo compilation I decided to include photos from four dates because they all relate to food and were the next in line.

The first two photos are of a hamburger that #Armandzraven ate. It was a pretty sizeable hamburger which is why I took a photo from it. I can't remember where it's from and didn't take a photo of the packaging, so that will remain a mystery.  

China Magic Noodle House! ~ 28 August 2010

The following nine photos are from what I believe was the first time I went to China Magic Noodle House in Chandler, Arizona, US with Armandzraven. They had a window where you could see them make the fresh noodles. My favorite noodles in peanut sauce were made by them. They unfortunately closed down the restaurant in 2022. I've not found another restaurant that makes noodles in peanut sauce that were as delicious as theirs.

These are photos that I took at night on the 7th of August in 2010 of the Tempe Town Lake when it was empty. 

In July 20th of 2010, one of the dams at the Tempe Town lake burst causing it to drain 977 million gallons of its water and killing thousands of fish. 

Because the photos were taken at night and while we were walking, they are a bit dark and blurry. As you may know, I leave the videos and photos that I upload mostly untouched, so that you can see them in their original state. This instance is no different, except that I decided to make an edited version of them to see a better glimpse. You'll see each original followed by the slightly color adjusted one to help better see the difference.

In addition, I've included at the end a couple of photos from local news source AZCentral, who has and image article titled, "Tempe Town Lake dam burst in 2010" by AZCentral-Unknown dated of July 19, 2016 and updated March 4, 2020. I've included the info and description of each of those as they have it on the article and please note/disclaimer, they are used for informational and educational purposes only. I had this folder named, "outside" with three photos that made me ponder why I took them. First, I noticed that they were taken from inside my vehicle and of a parking lot. Then I realized, it is a parking lot at one of the Arizona casinos. My memory makes me think it is Lone Butte Casino, which is one of the various casinos of the Gila River Resorts & Casinos. Lastly, I saw the resemblance of a rainbow.

So there it its! I took these photos of the rainbow shining through the sky while I was parked at the parking lot of a casino in Arizona. Hence the title I decided on for this short video. 

I decided to create an edited version of each photo by adjusting the brightness, contrast, and saturation to better see the rainbow and including them on this video so you can better see what I saw.

These are three photos I had on a folder dated the 7th of June of 2010 with the title, 'What I wore.' 

Instead of the original file name given by the camera used to take the photos, these were each saved with the brand name of each shirt. The first one is from Eighty Eight USA. The second and third also included the addition of whether it was a long or short sleeve, George Long Sleeve and Ten West Short Sleeve. As you can tell by the names, these are low budget brands. 

Now why I saved these images specifically like this on this day is likely because I decided to get rid of them. Because I have difficulty eliminating, getting rid of stuff, one way I have found to help is taking a photo.

The pattern you see on these shirts is one I like quite a bit.
